I am a professional artist and fully qualified teacher with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and a PGCE specialising in Post-Compulsory Art & Design teaching. I have over 18 years experience working in education and now work as an independent tutor and artist running workshops throughout the year in Lewes and Hove. My classes are suitable for both beginners and those wishing to revisit and develop their printmaking skills. I keep group sizes small to allow everyone space to work in a relaxed, friendly, environment and I am on hand to offer practical advice and encourage an experimental approach to printmaking alongside tips for continuing your work at home.
Visual resources are provided for every session including printmaking examples, contextual references and some of my favourite books, and equally you are welcome to bring materials to enrich and personalise your work. This might include books, paper, photographs, sketches, or other images you like. As a professional printmaker, I recognise the importance of good quality sustainable materials that produce successful results and all paper, inks, plates, and specialist tools will be provided. I am committed to delivering workshops using non-toxic high quality materials that do not require any harsh solvents, and are therefore better for our planet and us. This includes using excellent AKUA soy based printmaking inks, which have strong light-fast pigments, beautiful viscosity, no toxic binders, and can be cleaned up easily without polluting the water.
I now also offer 3hr untutored sessions at the Paddock Studio in Lewes, which are suitable for more experienced printmakers who wish to work on an independent project. Scroll down for details and booking enquiry form.
I also offer tailored group workshops with a 15% discount for group bookings of 6 or more people (max.10), perfect for groups of friends, artists, or co-workers who want to try something new together. These tutored classes take place on Thursday afternoons 2pm-5pm for 10 weeks (no class in half term). We will explore a variety of experimental printmaking techniques including monoprinting, linocut, collagraph and drypoint etching. This is a perfect introductory course to printmaking, but equally, processes can be adapted to suit your level of experience. All welcome!

Experimental Monoprinting at Hove Museum of Creativity.
Saturday 1 June,12–4pm

Ages 16+
Explore the versatile monoprinting process and produce a series of unique prints using stencils and simple cut paper shapes. Learn how to build up colours and layers and try printing on vintage books and collage papers for more complex outcomes. All materials are provided, including paper, high quality inks and specialist tools, plus tips for continuing your work at home.
RELIEF PRINTING SUNDAY 16th JUNE
at the Paddock Art Studio, Lewes.
SUNDAY 16th JUNE 10am - 5pm
Explore relief printmaking using both pressprint and lino to make a series of prints. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to develop your ideas with the addition of Chine Collé and have the option to print on fabric.
Suitable for both beginners and those with some printmaking experience
All materials and tea/coffee provided.
Please bring your own lunch to enjoy in the studio or garden.
